Airlines Condor Airlines is the largest holiday carrier not only in Germany, but also in the world. Considering the size of the fleet and the number of passengers served, it is the third largest German airline.

Condor Airlines was founded in 1955. The original name was Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH, but after being taken over by Condor-Luftreederei in 1961, it was changed to Condor Flugdienst. The first long-haul carrier was launched by the carrier in 1962 and it was flights to Kenya, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Condor has also been providing charter flights since 1965. In 1969, 40% of Condor's shares were acquired by Lufthansa. About 20 years later, German airlines in cooperation with Turkish Airlines, bearing in mind the leisure traffic on the Germany – Turkey route, launched SunExpress airlines, and in 1991 Condor airlines were the first among charter airlines to introduce a ticket in a more comfortable booking class than economical.

From 2000, Lufthansa's shares in Condor were gradually acquired by the British charter airline Thomas Cook Airlines, until in 2009 Condor was fully taken over by them. During this period, the name of the line changed to Thomas Cook powered by Condor. However, the lines returned to their name Condor Flugdienst and since 2021 has belonged to investment funds.

German airlines offer regular flights to holiday destinations in the Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, North America, South America and the Caribbean, and its main base is Frankfurt am Main.
