What to see in Münster?

Münster is located in the northern part of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the western part of Germany. Its history dates back to the eighth century when it was founded by Karol Wielki as a monastery settlement.

Münster is one of the most visited places in Westphalia, and due to its location, a large number of tourists come from the Netherlands. This is a city with many faces -  it combines the pride of an extremely long over thousand-year tradition with openness to young people and modernity.

In one of the rankings for the best places to live in Germany, Münster has the second place, leaving Berlin far behind.  Such a high position results from the fact that there are no headquarters of large enterprises. Instead, there are beautiful buildings – churches and houses, and each of them has its own amazing story to tell. The old part of the city is particularly enchanting – the Prinzipalmarkt square or the town hall which rises above the tenement buildings. There is also the famous Stadtweinhaus wine museum, with its amazing arcades.

Especially during the summer, but also not only then – it is worth going to the city port. This is the place where nightlife is the most interesting. In old buildings with a specially designed interior, you can find the perfect combination of culture, art, and gastronomy. You can have a great dinner, go to a club or to a gallery of modern art.

Münster is also Germany's cycling capital. It is called this way because there are many bicycle paths and facilities for cyclists, for example - special places for repair, parking lots and many rental companies. Promenades are especially interesting places – expressways for cyclists and pedestrians, located, among other, between the old city. They allow to quickly reach the most important places, much easier than a car.
