Mombasa is the second biggest city in Kenya. It has one of the biggest port on the eastern shore of Africa. That melting pot fascinates with its diversity and can make you feel dizzy. Abundant vegetation, markets smelling of spices and landscapes looking like cut out of postcards, draw tourists from all over the world the whole year round.
Walking via twisting streets of the Old Town you will see leftovers of colonialism – encrusted residential buildings with sculpted doors and shutters, balconies here and there scattered with laundry, or parts of buildings, which have theirs best days behind them. An old port it is a perfect place for rest. Though seashore trade has moved to a newer port Kilindini, if you are a bit lucky you can observe ships docked.
Being in Mombasa it is worth to visit a historic Fort Jesus, erected by Portuguese in the 16th century. But to feel a real closeness of Kenyan wildlife, it is enough to use a rich offer of safari trips, and also visit an eternally green Haller Park and Mamba Village.

In Mombasa restaurants you will find, without much effort, dishes of Indian, Japanese or Mediterranean cuisine. Make sure to try popular in that region titbits, like szawarna, dishes with piri piri, filling kuku chomu or borrowed from Indian cuisine baryani. Fresh fish and seafood can be found in almost every eatery, as well as on local markets.
Sandy beaches make for perfect conditions for rest. Bamburi and Nyaji Beach are one of the most popular beaches in the region, where you can sunbathe, dive in the ocean or have a ride on the camel! Mombasa aquapark Wild Waters is quite a treat for families with kids. Numerous pools, slides and other water attractions will give you lasting impression. Those hungry for adrenaline can take part in a go-carts race at Malindi Road or fly in a balloon – spectacular views are guaranteed.
