Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, located between the turquoise blue Arabian Gulf and the sandy desert Rub al Khali, has become a modern city in the blink of an eye. Its skyscraper skyline, the minarets of the huge Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, golden palaces, marble shopping centres, and great museums are extraordinary. Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is now one of the world’s leading tourist destinations. This metropolis attracts visitors from all over the globe with ever new attractions – with its diversity, hospitality, traditions and some of the best beaches in the region. Abu Dhabi is not only the city on the Gulf but also the largest of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE – with all its diverse landscape, from the oasis city of Al Ain, through the mighty dunes of the Empty Quarter to islands in the Gulf.

Why Abu Dhabi is the new preferred destination for wintertime?

Need a little break this winter? Tired of the rain and gloomy weather or simply want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Then it's time to visit a holiday paradise where you can enjoy guaranteed sunshine and warm temperatures even in winter. In Abu Dhabi, you can take a deep breath, relax on endless beautiful beaches and spend a magical, unforgettable time together with your family and friends. Treat yourself to some time off on sunny beaches! A trip to Abu Dhabi is a good idea regardless of the season! Winter is also the time to embark on one of the most adventurous and exciting off-road trips to see some of the country’s most stunning landscapes – for example, the biggest dunes on this side of the Sahara in Al Dhafra.

Why Abu Dhabi is also a great choice for summertime?

There is no better beach than the one where the desert meets the sea creating a beautiful contrast. There are dunes, beach grass, and even turtles. In addition to some public beaches (such as the blue flag Corniche beach), there is an abundance of private beaches that are accessible only to the guests of the adjacent hotels. Tourists can experience exclusive treatment at first-class beach clubs (such as Saadiyat Beach Club). These charge an entry fee, but they are worth every penny. Some of them have restaurants, even beach spas, or private beach huts, and, of course, five-star service! There are cool drinks, cocktails, and a selection of snacks available at your fingertips. The most beautiful beach in Abu Dhabi is Saadiyat Beach, which is nine kilometres long. You can find many 5 star resorts in this area. For those who want to experience the most luxurious beach in Abu Dhabi, take a short boat-ride to Zaya Nurai Island.

But the best reason why you should visit the beach in Abu Dhabi during summer: no matter what beach you go to, you don’t need to fight with the crowds!

Why Abu Dhabi is also a great choice for the rest of the year?

For many tourists, the biggest attraction is everyday Arabian life itself, while for others, it is the location with the Arabian Gulf’s beaches on one side and the Rub’ al Khali desert on the other. Whether it's world-class art exhibitions or luxury shopping, feeding your need for speed on a roller coaster or sea turtle watching along the coast – everything you can dream of is possible. One of the islands is home to thousands of rare antelopes. Any mistakes you can make while in Abu Dhabi? Not staying for long enough – and regretting it. Most people come back and stay longer once they realise there is so much more to discover.

In the Dunes of the Abu Dhabi Desert (except summer time)

The Rub’ al Khali is the largest contiguous sand desert on the planet with a total area of 650,000 square kilometres. It stretches from the Emirates far into Saudi Arabia, extends into Oman and Yemen, and covers about a quarter of the Arabian Peninsula. Quite contrary to its name, which translates as "the empty quarter", the desert is full of life. However, you have to develop an eye for it and look closely to notice, as there are gazelles, camels and even small lizards in some places. Abu Dhabi allows you to get close to the desert without getting into danger making it a smooth and uncomplicated experience.
