Gulfport is the second biggest city in the state of Mississippi, giving a way only to its capital, Jackson. Together with Biloxi, it is headquarters of rulers of Harrison county. It lies by the Mexican Gulf and the city’s name comes from it.
Gulfport, once only known thanks to its port from which ship transporting wood were leaving, today is a very popular tourists’ destination. It is located by the sea and many parties are taking place there, very common in American society. Among them we can name events such as World's Largest Fishing Rodeo (drawing most guests among all of events in the city), Smokin’ the Sound (a race of motor boats), or Cruisin’ the Coast (a week during old cars are exhibited).
If during a journey you want to relax and calm down, Gulfport is offering sandy beaches, wellness lounges of highest quality, as well as charming alleys. On a walk across the city, you will see many interesting old buildings, you can also admire big oaks, which they are already nature monuments. Your calm day should end on the beach, where you can gaze on an outstanding sunset. If you want to have a party weekend with friends, visit one of many casinos, and then go to one of the clubs – exciting weekend guaranteed.
Thanks to its location, staying in Gulfport you will definitely fancy some seafood. You can taste great ones in Half Shell Oyster House at 2500 13th St #1. Very recommended is a restaurant White Cap Seafood at 560 E Beach Blvd. Another recommendation in this category coming straight from travellers? The Blow Fly Inn at 1201 Washington Ave. If you like Italian cuisine, step for dinner to restaurant Salute at 1712 15th St, Ste 100. Do you fancy some pizza baked in a real oven? Make sure to visit Tony's Brick Oven at 2417 14th St.
