Kathmandu
Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, lies in the Kathmandu Valley on the river Bagmati. Together with Patan and Bhaktapur it forms an urban area of more than a million inhabitants. Founded in 723, the city is the country's key industrial centre. Here you will find landmarks such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Swayambhu and Boudhanath stupas and Pashupatinath Mandir. Many of them were damaged in the 2015 earthquake. The best time to visit is October and November, when the weather is dry and mild.
