What’s interesting to see in Lodz?

One of the most recognizable spots on the culinary and entertainment map of Lodz is Piotrkowska Street (especially its pedestrian-only part). Don’t get mislead by thought that this place might be overrated. It is definitely worth spending an hour or two walking through Piotrkowska and surroundings. There you will see the monument of a famous Polish cartoon teddy bear – “Uszatek” as well as monuments of respectable citizens of Lodz: poet Julian Tuwim and actor, writer Stefan Jaracz.

On „Pietryna”, as the street is nicknamed by locals, there is also a quite special place: OFF Piotrkowska (138/140 Piotrkowska St.).  This spot is called by its creators a centre of creative industries – you will find there workshops of fashion, furniture designers, as well as music clubs and a lot of great restaurants. Hungry? Perfect! Go to Spoldzielnia or Drukarnia - Sklad Wina i Chleba restaurants. If you are a fan of cosy places, visit Spaleni Sloncem, a cafe and pub, where you can chill out after the whole day of work or sightseeing.

Do you fancy some delicious, chocolate pie? Step by Wasiakowie bakery (2 Traugutta St.) and try the almost legendary “Royal”. When on the outskirts, visit one of Caffe przy Ulicy. You will find it under two locations – in the Baluty district at 120 Lagiewnicka St. and in the Retkinia district at 1 Napierskiego St. It is a place with good breakfast in reasonable price.
