In the city there is Parque Estadual das Dunas de Natal – the second biggest urban park in Brazil. Protected there are parts of dunes and fragment of a forest Mata Atlântica, situated by the shore, alongside the highway.
In Natal there is the biggest cashew in the world. Tree is as big as around 70 normal ones, it has 500 metres of circuit. In 1994 it was enlisted in the Guinness World Records.
If you fancy trying some local titbit – get ginga com tapioca. It is a snack made out of fish, served with tapioca. They say the best ones are on Redinha square.
Natal – a capital and the biggest city of Brazilian state Rio Grande do Norte, is located in the northern-eastern part of the country. One of the most important streets is Via Costeira (Senador Dinarte Mariz Avenue). It goes along the shore, and has the most luxurious hotels situated by it.

Natal is the closest to Europe and Africa state capital of Brazil. The closest airport is situated in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Aeroporto Internacional Governador Aluízio Alves. It is in distance of 25 kilometres from the centre of Natal. To the city you can get from there by taxi or bus. The airport is handling many internal flights and a few international connections. A bus station is located three kilometres from the city’s centre, it offers every day a few connections with bigger cities in other parts of the country.
Among restaurants recommended by tourists you will mainly find the ones specializing in seafood. One of the most popular is Camaroes Potiguar (located at Rua Pedro Fonseca Filho 8887), that is branch of a chain of restaurants. While ordering something, remember that served portions are very big! Other restaurant that has good opinion is Manary Gastronomia & Arte, located at Rua Francisco Gurgel 9067. Travellers also recommend Nau Frutos Do Mar, which you will find at Avenida Odilon Gomes de Lima 1772.
A very interesting option, that Brazilian cities have, and also does Natal, is rodízio, which means simply “eat as much as you can”. It can apply to meat, seafood, pastas or pizza. The best way is to use this option in places called churrascarii, where different types of meat are served.
