Vitória is the city of modern architecture, marvellous beaches and numerous bars, restaurants. Monuments are located on an island, which you can reach via one of many bridges. What is worth seeing there? Surely the cathedral from the 16th century, Catedral Metropolitana and the oldest sacral building in the city, Capela de Santia Luzia, that is situated in close distance. Interesting are also, dated back to the 16th century, buildings of Franciscan convent Convento da Penha located on a hill just by the Third Bridge (Terceira Ponte) in Vila Velha. You can admire from there the most beautiful panorama of the city. A must see is also Anchieta Palace, a baroque premises of Jesuits, now serving as local government headquarters, in which every day free trips with a guide are available.
Staying in Brazil, you will for sure want to go to the beach. The favourite place of locals is Praia da Costa in Vila Velha, where you can swim and surf with a view for huge container ships entering a port. The neighbourhood of Praia do Canto and Praia do Camburí offers perfect infrastructure – many shops, bars and restaurants. Vitória also offers possibility of spending time in one many neat urban parks, for e.g. park Moscoso, where most eagerly spend their time capixabas.
When you get hungry, go to area of Praia do Canto, where by a few street you will find enormous choice of restaurants and bars of any kind. If you are into culinary trips, make sure to ask about moqueca, seafood, pieces of fish in sauce made from coconut milk and torta capixana, which is frittata with seafood, olives and hearts of palm trees. The best one you can get on an island Ilha das Caieiras, as well as in the centre, for instance in spots like Pirão, Geraldinho or São Pedro.
