The city has the biggest stadium in the Mata Grosso state – Arena Pantanal. It has the capacity of more than 40 thousands spectators and was one of grounds, on which matches during the World Cup in 2014 were played.

Cuiabá together with neighbouring Várzea Grande are considered to be twin cities and often recognized as one. They are separated by the river Cuiaba ansd together have more than 800 thousand citizens.
Cuiabá is the capital of the Brazilian state Mata Grosso, located in the central-western part of the country. The city was founded during the golden rush period in the 18th century.
Around 8 kilometres from the city’s centre there is located the closest airport - Aeroporto Internacional Marechal Rondon. Contrary to what its name would suggests, it handles almost only internal flights to many other Brazilian cities. If you travel from abroad, you certainly have to pass through some other, bigger airport, like the one in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. You can also easily get to the city by car.
Cuiabá’s climate is favour for walks and spending time outside. Go to one of nearby parks (Parque Tia Nair or Parque Massairo Okamura), where you can enjoy green areas in the centre of the city and maybe even organize a picnic? While walking through the city, you will certainly pay attention to buildings from old time, among them many churches. Which of them are worth visiting? Definitely the monumental metropolitan cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana Basílica Senhor Bom Jesus), and also the church built in gothic style - Nossa Senhora de Bom Despacho, for which the inspiration was the French Cathedral Notre Dame.
Cuiabá is not all about historical buildings and beautiful spots created by human beings. Mind elements of nature, located in its neighbourhood. Among them, around 40 kilometres from the city, there is a magnificent national park - Chapada dos Guimarães, where you can admire waterfalls and cliffs.
Finally, the last very important part of sightseeing the city – its cuisine. Mahalo at Rua Presidente Castelo Branco 369 offers Brazilian food in haute cuisine version and is considered to be one of the best restaurants in the town. Another place that tourists recommend to visit is E Peixaria Okada at Avenida Ribeirao Preto Q 07 Casa 11, where you can also try Brazilian cuisine and eat the best fish in the town.
