Florianopolis is a perfect location to try water sports such as: windsurfing, surfing, diving, sandboarding. Rent equipment, pay for a lesson and try something new.
One of the best bars and night clubs in Floripa is Confraria das Artes situated by the beach Lagoa da Conceição. That place attracts each night hundreds of people from around the world.
36 kilometres from the city’s centre there is a small island Ribeirão da Ilha, charming with its historic centre and interesting due to rich collection of the Ethnology Museum. Worth to visit!
Great weather, high temperatures whole year round, the most beautiful beaches of the world, fantastic food and very friendly citizens are the best way to attract tourists. This is why Florianopolis, since many years, is one of the favourite holiday destinations not only for Brazilians, but also for tourists from around the world.
What is worth to see in Floripa, as locals call the city? Surely located on the island of St. Catherine historical centre of the city. It is good to start from a square Praça XV de Novembro with one of the most splendid buildings in the city, the cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana) and more than hundred years old tree Velha Figueira, of which verses of the city’s hymn are about. Interesting is also a building of Teatro Álvaro de Carvalho, which is an example of typical for Brazil architecture from the end of the 19th century. Must see is also a bridge Hercílio Luz from 1926, that not only connects island with land but also is the symbol of the city.
In Florianopolis you can find as much as 42 beaches. Located in the north Jurerê, Daniela, Canasvieiras, Brava and Ingleses are standing out, not only with heavenly views, but also with vast offer of restaurants and bars. In the south (at Campeche, Armação and Morro das Pedras) and in the east (Joaquina, Mole and Moçambique) there are perfect conditions for surfers. If you are looking for calmness, without typical touristic places, go to the beaches Lagoinha do Leste and Naufragados, that are accessible only by foot. Lovers of nature will definitely be fascinated by preserved in their original shape beaches Lagoa da Conceição or Peri Lagoon.
Such place like Florianopolis surely isn’t lacking spots where one can try specialties of local cuisine. On the whole shore seafood, fishes and Portuguese cuisine – that is a leftover of colonial history of the city – are reigning. Make sure to try moqueca, seafood dipped in sauce based on coconut milk, as well as grilled or coated with breadcrumbs, fried shrimps, fishes or octopus served with tapioca or rice. Where to eat? Choice of restaurants and bars is enormous, but these places have great opinions: Nosso Bar, Rita Maria Lagosteria and Ostradamus.
