The area of Granada is a perfect place for winter sports enthusiasts thanks to the location near the slopes of Sierra Nevada. In 1996, even the World Alpine Ski Championships took place there.
Granada is so beautiful that even has its own song – "Vuelvo a Granada". The author of the song is Miguel Ríos - rock and roll pioneer in Spain.
If you are going to Grenada to have fun on the slopes, you'll probably need the information that from the main station, buses to the Sierra Nevada go every morning - at eight o'clock and ten. Don't oversleep!
Granada is the capital of the province with the same name. It is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and it's also located close to the sea. To sunbathe on the Mediterranean beach, you will have to drive there by car, it takes about an hour.
Grenada is a university city, so it never sleeps. You won't be bored there. It is good to start a day in the same way as the local residents – have a breakfast in one of the dozens of cafes. You can visit Café Fútbol at the Plaza de Mariana Pineda 6. In the morning, eat great churros and drink coffee, hot chocolate or cold milk. You can also find a well-prepared buffet at Duran Barista in Carrera Darro 25.
After the breakfast, it's time to see the city. If you are coming to Granada just for the weekend, be sure to take a walk around the city. Raise your head and look at the snow-covered Sierra Nevada hills. In combination with Arabic architecture and Catholic churches, this view can make you feel really amazing.
One of the most beautiful buildings in Granada is the Alhambra – an amazing Mauritanian palace complex from the thirteenth century. Inside you will see amazing mosaics, while outside there are beautiful gardens with tiny fountains at every step. Plan your visit for at least three hours. However, before you go here, be sure to buy a ticket online and well in advance, because there is a specific pool of tickets for each day.
What is the best way to end the day? We recommend a wonderful relaxation in the Arab baths Aljibe De San Miguel located at San Anton 72. It's not a cheap pleasure, but the experience is certainly worth every penny. You will be able to take a bath in water at different temperatures and get a massage. All this combined with a wonderful aromatherapy, which is ensured by the essential oils located in every corner.
