The town of Skellefteå, known as ”The Golden Town", lies in the Västerbotten region in the north of Sweden. The village is famous for its beautiful church buildings (the so-called kyrkstad), historic mines, the oldest wooden bridge in Sweden (Lejonströmsbron) and the well-stocked Museum of Contemporary Art. The unpolluted natural environment of this part of Scandinavia creates wonderful conditions for relaxing in the bosom of nature. You can rent a boat and explore the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia, discovering the beauty of the surrounding islands, or go on an all-day hike through unusual nature reserves.
The city is favoring active forms of relaxation. A thrill will give us a visit to Skellefteå Adventure park, where there is a rope park and Tyrolean traverses. The possibility of hiding in the forest as part of the "Swenature" program is a great opportunity to look at the Lappish flora and fauna.
Skellefteå is also an ideal place for doing winter sports, such as skiing, snowboarding and ice hockey, which is very popular there. An additional attraction are guided walks on the frozen sea, as well as dog sled rides.
