Ryanair

Low-fares airlines Ryanair are the Irish carrier, the biggest and the most popular of that kind in Europe. Despite controversial ideas, airlines are very popular among tourists thanks to cheap prices, though their name can be quite a challenge for passengers looking for air connections.

Rayner, Rayanair, Raynair or Rynair, and even Rajaner – these are often names for airlines Ryanair given by people looking for not expensive possibilities of travelling. The carrier covers nearly 100 airports of the old continent and one in Morocco. Their planes land, among others, on Polish airports in Gdańsk, Bydgoszcz, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź, Modlin, Poznań, Rzeszów, Szczecin and Wrocław. To the network of connections of Irish airlines new directions are added each year.

Airlines were founded in 1985 by a family of Ryans: Christy Ryan, Liam Lonergan – the owner of Irish tour-operator “Club Travel” and the Irish businessman Tony Ryan – a founder of the enterprise Guinness Peat Aviation. Historical first flights were carried out on Embraer Bandeirante on a route Waterford – London Gatwick. A year later airlines started to fly between Dublin and London Luton.

With each year number of passengers using Ryanair’s services is growing. Due to losses that carrier recorded in 1991, management of airlines introduced program of restructuring, for which personally was responsible Micheal O’Leary. Introducing it, resulted in fantastic outcomes, making it the biggest in Europe low-cost airlines, when it comes to civil airlines. Since the year 2000 Ryanair is selling flight tickets online. Main headquarters of the airlines is Dublin. The carrier was given a title of the most on time airlines in Europe by Association of European Airlines and Civil Aviation Authority of Great Britain.

Hand luggage in Ryanair

Each passenger of the Ryanair airline can take small personal bag of dimensions 40 x 20 x 25 cm and it must fit under the seat in front of the passenger. If one bag is not enough, a second one can be taken, but a fee of €25 will apply. With priority & 2 bags which starts at €6, travelers can use the priority queue and bring another bag of up to 10kg and no bigger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm on board to be placed in the overhead locker. The same cabin baggage allowance applies to Plus / Flexi / Family ticket holders as well.

To a hand luggage you can’t pack everything. Ryanair airline, as any other airlines, is checking content of hand luggage of passengers before every flight. Due to safety reasons you can’t bring on board liquids in other package than strictly defined ones – each container has to have maximum 100 ml of liquid, be transparent, and all small bottles have to fit in one bag of 1-litre capacity. That means that each passenger can bring onboard maximum 1 litre of liquids – shampoo, shower gel, liquid for mouth rinsing etc.

These limitations are not concerning children’s food and medications. Milk or other liquids for kids have to be separately declare during a security check. Usually, a parent has to try liquid. Medications and food for children can be carried only in amount needed during a journey.

Registered luggage of Ryanair

In Ryanair airlines registered luggage is not included in the price of ticket. Each passenger can buy possibility of taking with him registered luggage. One person can take maximum three suitcases, each weighting no more than 20 kilos. In Ryanair airline, maximum sizes of registered luggage – the one that goes to a storage cabinet – are strictly defined. Each suitcase can measure maximum 81 x 119 x 119 cm.

Level of fares for registered luggage in Ryanair is dependent on dates of flight and place of purchasing additional luggage. Purchasing possibility of taking registered luggage via Internet is cheaper than buying it at airport, just before a take-off. For excess baggage in Ryanair airlines you have to pay extra fare for each kilo.

Content of registered luggage can be controlled at airport. In Ryanair airlines rules regarding registered luggage are the same as in any other airlines. You can’t pack to registered luggage flammable substances or explosive ones. The fact, if and in what amount food, alcohol or cigarettes are allowed in registered luggage depends on route of a journey and customs rules that are obligatory on it.

Online check-in

Travelling with airlines Ryanair, in period between 4 days to 2 hours before flight, we have possibility to check-in online and by the way purchase preferred place on plane’s board. Online check-in requires filling in personal information of travelling passengers. Online check-in needs to be done for each passenger. After completing it, you should print your boarding pass.

On the airport, during check-in, you have to show your boarding pass together with personal identification document used for online check-in. If you forget to take your boarding pass or to check-in online, you can do it at airport. Lack of boarding pass means additional fee for check-in at the airport. How much is the charge is defined by Ryanair.

It is best to check-in as soon as possible, to be sure that process is conducted properly.

Reservation classes

Ryanair offers a choice between several tariffs. The Standard Tariff is, of course, the cheapest, but it does not give travelers any privileges, and you should pay for extra services each time. In the case of buying higher tariffs, the number of services and privileges available in the ticket price is growing. The purchase of the Plus tariff involves the possibility of taking one piece of checked baggage with you, guaranteeing the priority of boarding (and taking free hand luggage with you), as well as the possibility of choosing a place on the plane. The Flexi Plus tariff also gives the possibility of changing the date and route of the flight (but under certain conditions), and the Family Plus tariff also includes discounts and additional facilities for traveling families.
