Thomas Cook Luggage Policy
Hand Luggage – Thomas Cook passengers are allowed to take on board one carry-on that an overhead locker will be able to accommodate as well as one small bag which must be stowed under the seat. Each hand luggage has a maximum size requirement, that being 40 x 30 x 10cm for the small bag and– 55 x 44 x 20cm for the overhead baggage. There is also a total weight limit of 8kg for Economy light and Economy Class Passengers. Economy Plus and Premium passengers may carry a total of 10kg hand luggage. Liquids such as: perfume, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. can be brought on board but must be carried in 100ml or smaller containers, all packed in a clear, plastic bag.
Checked Luggage – Checked luggage polices vary depending on the route, class of ticket and destination. In general, the standard baggage allowance for Economy class passengers that are travelling on long-haul flights are 20kgs and 23kgs to the USA. Checked luggage is not included in the ticket price for short or medium haul routes with Economy Class. Economy Plus and Premium passengers may carry up to 25kgs regardless of short or long haul. In addition, Premium tickets holders travelling to or from the US or Canada can carry up to 32kgs. All checked luggage dimensions with Thomas Cook airlines must be within the 158cm limit (length+width+height). It’s also important to keep in mind that if you book in advance with Thomas Cook Airlines you can save up to 50% on baggage charges applied at the airport.
Booking Classes
There are various Thomas Cook booking classes. Economy light is the no frills fare with the lowest ticket price. This is a non-flexible ticket where passengers can only carry one piece of hand luggage up to 8kg. Additional luggage is additionally charged. Thomas Cook Economy class tickets are divided into short or long-haul. For short haul flights, passengers can carry 1 hand luggage and 1 small bag up to 8kg. However, checked luggage is not included. For long haul economy tickets, 1 checked luggage up to 20kg is included in the ticket price as well as food and beverages. Economy Plus includes hand baggage up to 10KG, checked luggage up to 25KG and other benefits such as priority check in, seat reservation, premium meals and complimentary drinks. Lastly there is the Premium ticket which offers all the benefits of Economy Plus, plus seats with extra leg room and an in-flight premium entertainment system. There are also separate check-in counters available for Premium ticket holders.
Online Check-in with Thomas Cook Airlines.
Thomas Cook Airlines online check-in is an easy and convenient way of checking in and generating your boarding pass. Online check-in with Thomas Cook airlines opens 24 hours before your flight departs and closes 2 hours before. It is also necessary to be at the departure lounge at least 45 minutes before departure if online check-in is used. Online check in is completed through the official Thomas Cook Airlines website. After the online check-in, passengers can either print their boarding pass or display the boarding pass through a smartphone or tablet.
In addition to online check in passengers with Thomas Cook Airlines can check in at the airport through normal check-in, however this option is not available to Economy Light passengers where online check-in is mandatory.
Fleet
Thomas Cook Airlines fleet consists of over 30 Airbus aircraft including six brand new Airbus A321 which were ordered in 2013. In 2014 Thomas Cook Airlines also invested more than £8.5 million into refurbishing their fleet of A330’s which now have even wider, ergonomically designed seats to give you that little extra space.
Manchester Airport
Thomas Cook Airlines main hub is located at the Manchester Airport in England which is 13.9 km; south-west of Manchester city centre. From Manchester airport travellers can reach up to 180 direct destinations. In 2016, it was the third busiest airport in the United Kingdom in terms of passenger numbers and the busiest outside London. The airport passenger numbers also reached a record total of 27.7 million in 2017. At such a large and popular airport, you can expect to find many restaurants and shops inside the airport, nearby hotels within 5 minutes’ walk of the terminals, entertainment venues and various lounges such as the Escape Lounge and the 1903 Lounge. There is also free WiFi available at all three terminals at Manchester Airport for up to 4 hours in any 24-hour period. The airport has very good connections with Manchester city centre where travellers can get by taxi, bus and train.
Refreshments
With Thomas Cook Airlines, the type of menu available depend on the class of tickets bought and whether the flight is short or long haul. For all long-haul flights, a complimentary meal is available. Passengers travelling Economy Plus or Premium Class can enjoy a choice of extra special meals, put together by top chef James Martin, along with complimentary drinks to toast the trip.
For Short haul flights- no meal is available unless it is pre-ordered, or an Economy Plus/Premium class ticket is purchased, in which case the meal and drinks are part of the fare.
Regardless of the class of ticket, all passengers can purchase extra snacks and a range of drinks on board the flight via cash or credit card. For non-standard meals such as children's meals or vegetarian, vegan, diabetic and gluten-intolerant menus remember to pre-book before the flight. Otherwise only the classic menu will be available, which might not be suitable.
Additional services
To keep passengers entertained during the flight, Thomas Cook Airlines distributes its in-flight magazine ‘Holiday’ that features, among others, interesting articles and information about the carrier's destinations and holiday packages. There is also an onboard duty-free shop which sells a wide range of products including cosmetics, electronics and perfumes for a discounted price.
The in-flight entertainment programmes, vary depending on the type of ticket bought and the length of the journey. Those travelling short haul flights can view the planes moving map or view documentaries on the overhead screens. For long haul flights passengers can enjoy the latest movies and tv series on the seatback screen. Passengers can also upgrade to the premium entertainment option which includes a much larger selection of movies and tv shows. Premium entertainment is available for all premium ticket holders and is included in the ticket price.

Disappointed passenger
Having flown with Thomas cook many times I thought I would feel a valued customer. I was travelling with my mum and grandaughter, my mum requiring wheelchair assistance. I made the arrangements directly with TC customer services team who assured me that assistance and transfers would meet my needs. This was not the case. My mum had no assistance at all at Hurghada airport we were stranded for ages , no reps available and eventually fellow passengers helped us. When we got to the coach my mum had to be physically lifted on as it was a mini bus with high steps, totally humiliated, embarrased and degraded
