Airport Warsaw Frederic Chopin

Currently, the airport has two terminals:

Terminal A – the main one;
Terminal General Aviation – dedicated to passengers and crews of all aircraft used for purposes other than regular airline services or charter flights. The terminal can be used also by passengers of helicopters, air ambulances, and air taxis.

Regular and low-cost airlines serve approximately 100 destinations, both domestic and international: to and from North America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Flights to London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam are currently the most popular among passengers. When it comes to flights within the country, the top choices are Danzig, Cracow, and Wroclaw. In 2015, Warsaw Chopin Airport handled over 11.2 million passengers and the total number of flight operations reached over 124.700.

In 2013, for the fourth time in its history, Warsaw airport was awarded the title of Ambassador of the Polish Economy in the “Creator of 21st Century Solutions” category. The competition is organized by the Business Centre Club under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In January 2015, it was voted as the best airport in Poland by the readers of “Business Traveller Poland”. It was the second time that Warsaw Chopin Airport earned this honor.

In October 2015, Warsaw airport was the first transportation facility in Poland to receive the “Barrier Free” certificate from Integracja Foundation for the infrastructure tailored to the needs of disabled travelers.

There are several hotels near the airport, such as B&B Hotel Warszawa-Okęcie and Courtyard Warsaw Airport.

Rail connection is the fastest way to reach Warsaw Chopin Airport. The travel to the city center takes approximately 20-25 minutes. The train station is located underground, below the Arrivals level. The train service to and from the airport is provided by two carriers – S-Train System (SKM, Szybka Kolej Miejska) and Mazowieckie Railways (Koleje Mazowieckie).

S2 and S3 lines provide quick access to the city center – both the Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna) and Warszawa Śródmieście Station are situated within the midtown (they are about 200 meters apart). However, passengers willing to change to long-distance trains should take the S3 train which stops directly at the Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna).

SKM train tickets

When taking a train to or from Warsaw Chopin Airport, the standard ZTM (Warsaw Transport Authority) fare will be charged. The train station at the airport is located within the first fare zone.

Train tickets can be purchased as follows:

• at the Passenger Information Desk at Arrivals;
• from the ticket vending machines available at the airport train station and public bus stops;
• from the ticket vending machines available aboard SKM trains and buses;
• from bus drivers.

All KM (Mazowieckie Railways) tickets, including the Airport Ticket, are valid also for S2 and S3 SKM trains on the route between Warszawa Płudy and Warsaw Chopin Airport. Travelers holding the Airport Ticket offered by Mazowieckie Railways, are allowed to use any means of public transport (buses, streetcars, subway, and SKM trains) operating within the first fare zone. Passengers must validate tickets immediately after boarding a train/bus/tram (with a visible time stamp printed on it). The ticket will be valid for 60 minutes.

City bus service

There are five bus routes serving Warsaw Chopin Airport, all operated by ZTM Warszawa (Warsaw Transport Authority). The city bus network provides direct access to the city’s main districts and its most important transportation hubs. The lines that can take you to the Warsaw Chopin Airport are 148, 175, 188, 331, and the night line N32.

Coaches

Coaches arrive and depart from the terminal located in front of the south pier, at the Arrivals level. There are 21 bus stands and a covered waiting platform.

The taxi rank is located right outside the Arrivals Hall. Service to and from the airport is offered by most of the private taxi companies operating within Warsaw and nearby cities. For safe and legitimate transportation, use one of three licensed companies recommended by Warsaw Chopin Airports: Ele Taxi, Super Taxi or Sawa Taxi.

Taking a taxi from the airport to the city center will cost around 40 PLN. The current fare must be clearly displayed to the passenger in the car’s window.

Warsaw Chopin Airport is located 10 kilometers southwest of Warsaw city center, at 1 Żwirki i Wigury Street. To access it by car, you should turn from Jerozolimskie Ave onto Raszyńska Street (Road 634) – it then changes its name to Żwirki i Wigury Street and leads straight to the airport. Driving from the south, you should turn from Krakowska Ave to 17 Stycznia Street and then to Żwirki i Wigury.

Payment can be made by cash, credit cards or debit cards at one of the vending machines.

Baggage – there are 27 lockers of various sizes for storing your luggage at Warsaw Chopin Airport. They are located at the Arrivals level, in front of the Terminal A building, right behind the public bus stop. The charge is 12-15 PLN per day and depends on the size of a locker. The payment machines accept coins only (1, 2, and 5 PLN) with no change given. Luggage can be left up to 72 hours.

Health – there is a first-aid service available at the airport. If you need to see a doctor, call the following number: +48 22 650 2444.

Internet – free Internet kiosks are available to passengers throughout the airport.

THE LANDSIDE / BEFORE SECURITY AREA
Tourist Information Desk –it is located at the Arrivals level.

Restaurants and cafés – Arrivals: Flying Bistro, McCafe, McDonald’s; Departures: Bread&Co, Bricco Cafe), Cheers! Bar, Chiefs, Illy, McDonald’s, Misa, Papaya, The Flame.

Shopping – there are duty-free shops at the Departures and Schengen Zone, such as Aelia Duty-Free which is open from the first flight to the last arrival. Grocery stores and newsstands are located on both the Arrivals and Departures levels of the airport. At the Arrivals, you will also find a flower shop (open from 4 am to 11 pm); in the Departures Hall, there are multiple stores offering souvenirs, jewelry, cosmetics, clothes, electronics, perfumes, toys, and other goods.

Financial services – several ATMs are available across the airport, including BZ WBK (Departures), PKO BP (Arrivals), Pekao SA (Departures and Arrivals), and Euronet (Arrivals; airside; baggage claim hall). Currency exchange counters are located at both Arrivals and Departures. On the Departures level, you will find the branch of Bank Pekao SA.

Car rental – there are eight car rental companies serving the airport with offices located at the Arrivals, Terminal A.

Lost and Found Office – it is located at the Departures level, Terminal A, next to security control in the CDE Zone. The office is open daily: Monday-Friday from 6 am to 10 pm; weekends and holidays from 6 am to 6 pm. Chapel and prayer room – the ecumenical chapel is located at the Departures (Check-in Area C). It is open every day between 5 am and 11 pm. Christian services are held every Sunday at 8, 10, and 11 am. The second chapel with multi-faith prayer rooms is available on the airside/after security area, next to the Gate 37. It is open 24 hours a day to passengers of all faiths and religions.

More – Observation Deck – it is open daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. The entry is free of charge. The deck features a coffee house and a gift shop; also free WiFi internet is available here. Recently, the real-time flight tracker has been introduced on the deck, so the visitors can watch take-offs and landings as well as the current position of aircraft on the screens.

THE AIRSIDE / AFTER SECURITY AREA

Restaurants and cafés – passengers can enjoy a meal in a variety of eating places located in the Schengen Zone, including Business Shark Pub or Sami Swoi and Sushi Tai restaurants, or have a cup of coffee at Voyage Café and So!Coffee. In the non-Schengen Zone, there are Rest & Wine Restaurant and Voyage Café.

Shopping – passengers can find duty-free shops in the Schengen Zone (e.g. Aelia Duty-Free), as well as in the non-Schengen Zone (e.g. Aelia Duty-Free and Keraniss). They stay open until the last person leaves. There are also three jewelry stores at the airport (open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm), toy stores and souvenir shops (open from 5:00 am to 10.30 pm), as well as fashion boutiques, and newsstands.

Financial services - currency exchange counters are located at both Arrivals and Departures.

More – the Departures Hall is equipped with charging stations enabling to charge mobile phones and other electronic devices.
