Switzerland
Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, lies in Western Europe and borders Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy and France. It is a mountainous landlocked country, known for the Alps and its democratic traditions. Bern serves as the capital. Switzerland has been neutral since 1815 and is not an EU member, though it takes part in the Schengen Agreement. Winter temperatures drop to -5°C, while summers reach 25°C. The best time to visit is spring and summer, when the landscapes are at their greenest.
