Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is located in Western Europe and shares borders with Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, and France. This mountainous, landlocked country is celebrated for its Alpine landscapes and long-standing democratic traditions. Bern serves as the capital. Switzerland has maintained neutrality since 1815 and is not a member of the EU, though it participates in the Schengen Agreement. Winter temperatures can drop to -5 °C, while summers reach up to 25 °C. Spring and summer are the best times to visit, when the scenery dazzles with vibrant greenery.
