Conakry
Conakry, the capital of Guinea, lies in the west of the country on the Atlantic Ocean, partly on the island of Tombo. It is home to around 1.7 million people. It is a key economic, cultural and academic centre as well as the country's main seaport. The city has a tropical monsoon climate, so the best time to visit is the dry season, from November to April. In Conakry it is worth seeing the Sandervalia National Museum and the Botanical Garden. The city was World Book Capital in 2017.
