Known as the Eternal City, Rome is filled with monuments such as the Colosseum and St Peter's Basilica. Temperatures reach 30°C in summer and hover around 10°C in winter. The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when the weather is milder. Within the city limits lies the Vatican, the seat of the Pope.
