Japan
Japan is an island country in the western Pacific, made up of thousands of islands. It is home to around 124 million people, which makes it one of the most densely populated states in the world. Japan is known for its high standard of living and the longevity of its inhabitants. Tokyo, the capital, is a centre of modern architecture and culture. Japan is well worth visiting in spring, when the cherry trees blossom, or in autumn, when the leaves change colour. Average temperatures range from 5°C in winter to 25°C in summer.
