Caracas
Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, lies in the north of the country, 11 km from the Caribbean coast. The city is home to around 1.9 million people. Its historic centre is full of colonial landmarks, such as the cathedral and the Casa Amarilla. Around it stand modern districts with tall office towers, as well as Waraira Repano National Park. The climate is tropical, with a dry season from December to April, which makes this the best time to visit. The city's rich history and its industrial hinterland are both worth exploring.
