Gdansk
Gdańsk, on the Bay of Gdańsk, is the largest city in Poland by area and the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. With 487,834 inhabitants it is the country's sixth largest city. Together with Gdynia and Sopot it forms the Tricity. The city stands out for its rich history of more than a thousand years, having once been the wealthiest city of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It is famous for the international Amberif amber fair. It is best visited in summer, when temperatures are pleasant and its cultural attractions are in full swing.
