Cape Verde
The Cape Verde Islands, located in the central Atlantic Ocean about 620 km off the coast of Africa, form an archipelago made up of 10 main islands. These are divided into the Windward Islands, such as Sal and Boa Vista, and the Leeward Islands, including Santiago and Fogo. Home to around 401,000 people, the archipelago features a mountainous landscape crowned by Pico do Fogo, which rises to 2,829 metres. The islands enjoy a dry subtropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 27 °C, making them an appealing destination year-round. Tourism, agriculture, and fishing are the mainstays of the local economy.
