Austin
Austin, the capital of Texas, lies in the central-eastern part of the state on the Colorado river. With a population of close to 980 thousand, it is the fourth largest city in Texas. Founded in 1839, it was named after Stephen F. Austin. The city has grown rapidly thanks to its high-tech industry, becoming a centre of innovation. Known as Silicon Hills, Austin attracts corporations such as Dell, Apple and Tesla. The climate is hot, especially in summer, so the best time to visit is spring and autumn.
