Budapest
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, lies in the northern part of the country on the Danube. It was created by merging Buda, Óbuda and Pest. One of the leading metropolises of Central Europe, it is known for its rich cultural and academic offering, including numerous museums, theatres and universities. The city is also a popular tourist destination and spa resort. Average temperatures are around 0°C in winter and around 25°C in summer. Budapest is best visited in spring or autumn, when the weather is mild.
