The international airport of Milan Bergamo is the third largest airport in Italy and also the third one serving Milan. The airport is located in the heart of one of the most beautiful tourist regions of this country. Mountains and lakes, picturesque landscapes and pleasant climate are just a substitute of what the area offers. The port is about 45 km from the centre of Milan. From March 23, 2011, the airport is named after the baroque painter Caravaggio, who lived in the province of Bergamo during his childhood. The port serves almost 30 airlines, regular and low-fare airlines. Annually, they generate passenger traffic on the level of 10.4 million.
