What to see in Genoa?

Genoa is a city located in in the north-west of Italy, on the coast of the Ligurian Sea on one side and at the foot of the Ligurian Alps on the other.

It is the capital of the Liguria region, which is particularly popular due to beautiful beaches, amazing architecture and outstanding food. The city port in Genoa is the largest port in the whole country.

The buildings in the city are unique on a European scale. The streets of a beautiful central Genoa have their original look. They are narrow and similar to a labyrinth, Via Garibaldi with several unusual palaces (there are, among others, Palazzo Doria Tursi, Palazzo Bianco, Palazzo Rosso or Palazzo Carrega-Cataldi), and the mentioned huge port, which was completely rebuilt in the nineties,  are definitely worth seeing.

First of all, Genoa is associated with phenomenal views, thanks to the Ligurian Sea. Come to the beach before sunset and enjoy the fantastic, colorful houses, illuminated with the most favorable light, given by the sun just before twilight.

You will be able to look at huge cargo ships entering and leaving the port and at the efficient work of local residents.

Are you hungry after a walk? Great! Time to try local, amazing dishes. One of the most interesting dishes that you need to try is farina - a tart made of chickpea flour, served with various additions, such as capers and fried onions. There are also many other amazing dishes, such as burrida (fish soup), minestrone, vegetable soup, or green, basil pesto, of course also produced locally.

What are the best restaurants in Genoa? One of the best-rated places in the city is Bataro - Panino Contadino at Piazza San Lorenzo 26 Rosso. When it comes to a date, you can visit Al Teatro di Campopisano at Vico di Campopisano 15, where apart from delicious food you will find peace and an intimate atmosphere. Le Mura di Malapaga on Via del Molo 57 and Ostaietta on Via Canevari 280R also have a very good reputation.
