Finland
Finland is a country in Northern Europe bordering Sweden, Norway and Russia, with access to the Baltic Sea. The capital, Helsinki, forms a metropolitan area together with Espoo and Vantaa. The country is famous for its many lakes (around 55 thousand) and its forests, which cover 69% of its surface. The climate is temperate, with frosty winters and mild summers. The best time to visit is summer, when the days are long and warm. Finland gained independence in 1917 and belongs to many international organisations, including the EU and NATO.
