Graz
Graz, the capital of Styria in south-eastern Austria, is the country's second largest city, with 306 thousand inhabitants. Set on the River Mur at the foot of the Styrian Alps, it is an important industrial, cultural and academic centre with four universities. The Old Town of Graz, on the UNESCO list, delights visitors with St Giles's Cathedral and the ruins of the Schlossberg castle with its distinctive clock tower. The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when the weather is good for sightseeing.
