Auckland
Auckland, also known as Tāmaki-makau-rau, is the largest city in New Zealand, set on the North Island between the Manukau and Hauraki harbours. Around 1.5 million people live here, making up 29% of the country's population. The city is a key economic and cultural centre. You will find 53 extinct volcanoes here and picturesque hills cloaked in rainforest. Auckland has a mild climate, with temperatures from 10°C in winter to 25°C in summer. The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when the weather is pleasant.
