Paris
Paris, the capital of France, lies in the northern part of the country on the Seine. It is the political, economic and cultural heart of France, with a population of over 2 million within its administrative boundaries. The city attracts visitors from all over the world with attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Notre-Dame cathedral. In 2018 it welcomed almost 18 million tourists. Its temperate maritime climate makes spring and autumn the best times to visit, when temperatures are pleasant.
