Libya
Libya, in North Africa on the Gulf of Sidra, borders Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Niger, Algeria and Tunisia. The capital is Tripoli. Most of its territory is taken up by the Sahara and the Libyan Desert, dotted with oases. The dry tropical climate gives way to a Mediterranean one along the coast. The country is known for the record temperature of +57.8 °C measured at Al-Aziziya. Rainfall is rare and there are no permanent rivers. Tripoli and Benghazi are best visited in spring, when temperatures are milder.
