  • The view for the fantasy island

If you want to see an interesting city’s panorama, go to Torre de TV, situated by Eixo Monumental. In this new building, there is a view point with a restaurant at 80 metres altitude. On the lower level there is an art gallery.

During the construction of the city, an artificial water tank was created – the lake Paragonoá. Nowadays, it is the favourite place of citizens, where they can do water sports, relax, barbecue or go to restaurant and bars located on the shores.

What’s interesting to see in Brasília?

Situated on a vast plateau, around 1000 kilometres from the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, the capital of Brazil was built during 41 months in the 50.’s of the 20th century.  Despite its short history, it is a place with wide cultural offer, brilliant vibe and very cordial citizens.

The city’s architecture is considered to be a masterpiece of modernism of the 20th century and was added to the UNESCO world heritage list. According to urban assumptions, its plan as seen from the above was supposed to look like a flying bird. “The head” of Brasília consists of government buildings, courts, the cathedral of Holy Mather of Aparecida and embassies, “the body” are schools, churches, shops and sport facilities, whereas “the wings” are the residential districts. In the city’s panorama dominant are skyscrapers and blocks of flats of simple, futuristic form, made of steel, concrete, glass and marble. Brazilians called it the fantasy island, ilha de fantasia, as it was erected in the middle of nowhere.

The main touristic place of the Brazilian capital is the axis Eixo Monumental, by which the Square of Three Powers - Praça dos Trés Poderes is located, with congress (Congresso Nacional), the presidential palace (Palácio do Planalto) and the supreme court (Supremo Tribunal Federal), as well as the pantheon (Panteão) and a mock-up of the city. By the Avenue of Ministries (Esplanada dos Ministérios) the cathedral of Holy Mather of Aparecida is situated, one of the most interesting pieces of modern architecture and the symbol of the city. What’s important – the entrance to the cathedral is free. In the neighbourhood there is the National Library (Biblioteca Nacional Nacional Leonel de Moura Brizola), the Palace of Justice (Palácio da Justiça), the National Theatre (Teatro Nacional) and the National Museum (Museu Nacional Honestino Guimarães).

Brasília, as home for people coming from different regions of the country, doesn’t have typical local cuisine. In restaurants, popular eateries with food paid per weight or bars located mainly in the residential part of the city (e.g. at CLS 405 street) are served dishes characteristics for other towns. Among them the most popular are acarajé, fried balls made of bean pie with shrimps, ceviche – salads with seafood and roasted meat, churrasco. Brilliant Brazilian cuisine you can find in Taypá Sabores Del Perú at Quadra Shis Qi 17, Kiosky da Rosa at Quadra 1303 and in Feitico Mineiro at Setor Stn.
