Egypt
Egypt, officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, lies in north-eastern Africa and extends into Asia on the Sinai Peninsula. It borders Israel, Palestine, Sudan and Libya, and its shores are washed by the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. The country is home to more than 100 million people, most of them Arabic speakers. Cairo with the pyramids of Giza, Alexandria and Luxor with the Valley of the Kings are all worth visiting. The climate is hot and dry, and the best time for sightseeing is spring or autumn, when temperatures are milder.
