Air Baltic

AirBaltic is one of the largest Latvian carriers in the Baltic States. In the international IATA code, it is under the acronym BT. The carrier operates flights between Riga and other various cities in the eastern and northern Europe. Airplanes with the characteristic light green logo, travel to several capitals in Western Europe, North Africa and even to Asian which was the former Soviet Republic. Some connections are also made from other nearby airports.

The airline was established in 1995 in cooperation with Scandinavian Airlines. Initially, it was only a direct carrier, but since 2008 the concept has changed. Nowadays, Air Baltic Airlines is a network carrier that combines the features of a traditional national carrier with those of a low-cost airline. The Latvian government is the majority shareholder of this company.

TYPES OF BAGGAGE

With Air Baltic, hand luggage (dimensions and weight) are strictly defined by the regulations of this carrier. You can take two bags on board, whose weight cannot exceed 8 kilograms. ONLINE CHECK-IN RULES

Air Baltic's online check-in is a way to get to your plane quickly without formalities at the airport. All you have to do is fill out your boarding pass with your personal data at home before departure. Then the printed document will be your ticket for boarding the plane. You also need to carry an ID card with you, which can be used to confirm your personal data.

In special cases, bookings can be made up to five days before the scheduled departure date. The condition is to book a seat on board. Passengers traveling on the basic fare can check-in 36 hours before the Air Baltic flight. Check-in at the airport entails an additional cost of 35 EUR per person.

FLEET OF AIRCRAFT

Almost forty airplanes make up the airBaltic fleet. The planes are of different sizes and come from several manufacturers. The largest number of aircraft are European Airbus A220-300, which were designed by the Canadian concern Bombardier Inc. Such universal and lightweight aircraft in the Air Baltic flies over twenty years. The rest of the fleet is made up of small passenger turboprop Bombardier Q400 NextGen, coming directly from Canada. The aircraft can accommodate several dozen people, and several dozen aircrafts fly for this carrier. The Air Baltic fleet is complemented by several American Boeing 737-300 aircraft, considered to be the most popular model of aircraft in the world.
