Jet2.com Limited is a British low-cost carrier and a subsidiary of the Dart Group PLC. It started operating in 1983 under the name Chanel Express providing freight transport services. Since 2001, the airline has been offering passenger charter services. In 2003, Channel Express founded the Jet2.com brand. The company opened its first base at Bournemouth Airport. In 2006 it relocated to Leeds-Bradford Airport from where the airline took off on its first cheap flight to Amsterdam. Jet2.com has eight operating bases – in Alicante, Belfast, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds-Bradford, Manchester, and Newcastle.
The British low-cost carrier serves almost 80 airports in 12 countries. Jet2.com operates flights to popular holiday destinations in 10 European countries as well as around the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. In Poland, it offers service to and from Cracow.
Jet2.com is an award-winning airline. In its first year of operation, Jet2.com received an award as the world’s most punctual airline flying into Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. In 2004, it won the “Best Newcomer to Tourism” in the White Rose Awards sponsored by the Yorkshire Tourist Board. In May 2004, the airline was awarded the “Best European Short Haul Airline” by the readers of “The Guardian” and “Observer”. In 2008, Jet2.com won a customer satisfaction award from “Daily Telegraph” by being voted the best airline in the UK. It was also voted Best Scheduled Airline and nominated as the airline that they were most likely to recommend to a friend by the readers of “Holiday Which?” magazines.
